Heated Vinyl and LVT Flooring Toronto

When it comes to moisture-prone rooms like kitchens, bathrooms, and home gyms, vinyl and luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) are the perfect flooring options. Vinyl does not just perform well but also offers characteristics that are as real as wood, stone, or tile. Having these floors, however, doesn’t mean you deal with cold floors. At Heavenly Heat we have several underfloor heating options you can use.

 Vinyl & LVT Underfloor Heating

Heavenly Heat has several options for vinyl underfloor heating. We have electric underfloor heating systems that are ideal for vinyl floors. We also understand that the heating system must not go above 81 degrees F when installed under vinyl floors. If you are thinking of installing radiant heating as the main source of heat with your vinyl floors, we highly recommend that you give us a call for a heat loss calculation. Our heat loss calculation will guarantee that the heated floors will offer sufficient heat without compromising the integrity of your floors.

Electric Systems for Vinyl & LVT Flooring

The efficiency of the underfloor heating system being used will depend on the kind of vinyl flooring that you are using. Vinyl flooring comes in many types. Their unique properties are what influences the specification requirement of underfloor heating systems. Prior to purchasing a heating system, it is very important that you talk to a professional regarding the type of vinyl flooring that you are using. Our team at Heavenly Heat is happy to help you make the most informed decision. To meet your heating needs, we may recommend one of three underfloor heating systems.

Easy Mat

This is a unique system made of heating cables which are interwoven to form flexible strips. These mats are easy to install and thanks to their flexibility they can be installed in cramped floor layouts as well as around existing fixtures. It is also good to note that they are just 1/8 inches thick which means they don’t affect the floor levels.

Easy Mat has three heat requirement strengths; 12, 15 and 20 Watts per square foot. If you plan on using underfloor heating as the primary source of heat, the 20 Watts per square foot option will be great. To use as a secondary source of heating, 12 or 15 Watts per square foot will be fine.

Easy Wire

EasyWire is available with heat requirement strengths that range from 10 to 20 Watts per square foot. The 20 Watt per square foot is ideal if you plan on using EasyWire as the primary source of heat in a room. 10 Watts per square foot is recommended when you just want to heat the floors and use underfloor heating simply as a secondary source of heat. The system uses the ordinary current that is already in your home which makes it easy to install. The heating element is 1/8 inches thick. It does not raise the level of the floors. A thermostat can be installed to regulate heat in various heating zones.

Vinyl Floor Heating System

Self-Regulating Cable

This is the third option we recommend for use with vinyl and LVT flooring. The system is cUL listed and is designed for both residential and industrial applications. The unique feature is that the heating cable increases or decreases the heat output depending on the surrounding temperature. This feature eliminates the risk of overheating. Self-regulating cable is energy efficient and poses zero risks of burnout/overheating.

If you are stranded on the type of heating system to use with your vinyl or LVT floors, we encourage you to contact us for expert advice. At Heavenly Heat, we are always happy to hear from you and offer the assistance you need.

Floor Temperature and Thermostat

When it comes to vinyl floors, the maximum temperature of the heating system should not go above 81 degrees F. When working with us, we use state-of-the-art thermostats to ensure the right temperature is achieved. Our floor probe is programmed to vinyl so as to guarantee the system never goes above 81 degrees F.

We have several thermostats to meet your unique needs in underfloor heating. It doesn’t matter if you need a thermostat with smart features or a standard one, we have you covered. We guarantee that you enjoy heated floors safely and efficiently. Our thermostats will give you complete control of the heating settings as well as enable you to enjoy a warm room without incurring high energy bills. Get in touch with us now to find out more about our thermostats.

Transfer of Heat Limits

In the installation of underfloor heating for vinyl floors, we require that everything, underlay and final floor finish included, be within the limits in the table below. If the manufacturer of your vinyl flooring dictates that it has to be installed together with an underlay, the underlay should be between 3mm and 6mm thick and breathable.

Care has to be taken to guarantee that there is effective heating system performance. At Heavenly Heat we never recommend the installation of the heating system under vinyl floors if the below limits are not sufficiently met. This is because failure to satisfy the limits can lead to performance issues.

Transfer of Heat Limits
Tog Not more than 2.5
RSI Not more than 0.25
R-value (US) Not more than 1.42
U-value Not less than 4.0

When they are installed properly, vinyl and LVT flooring can last for years. You need to pick the right materials for your home and always ensure you get them installed by professionals. If you prefer to install underfloor heating, you have to prepare for this well in advance. Our team at Heavenly Heat is happy to help you find the best vinyl flooring, help with their installation as well as help you find the best underfloor heating system that goes well with your vinyl floors. What Our Clients Say

As a DIY, I really appreciated the snow melting cable from Heavenly Heat because it is so heavily jacketed I had no trouble with damage, testing the cable before and after proved that it withstood whatever it had to during installation. I love that it has a built-in return connection; meaning the cable doesn’t have to make the “run” back to the relay panel – this made the install so much easier.

Amazing product! We installed easy mat in a family room. The family room was part of an addition that was on a slab so the room was extremely cold especially in the winter. We used the mat under pad and carpet and it heats up in minutes. We are thrilled with how this product performs.

Ordered floor heating cable. Works well. A great solution for an odd shaped space and the price is great. We installed it in a bathroom floor that is above and unheated garage. Just the right solution.

It was a pleasure dealing with Heavenly Heat during home renovation project. Customer support was excellent, advising on how-to (I hired electrician at the end to install the system at the end, but still they were very helpful). Over all very positive experience.

Awesome floor heat system. I have installed Heavenly Heat as well as a couple other brands and this one for the price cannot be beat. It also comes with extras that the more expensive systems do not come with such as the alarm to let you know if you have damaged the cable during installation. The thermostat takes a bit of time to learn and is not as easy, but once you figure out how to program it, its no problem. Will definitely buy again. The floor is already nice and warm.

Good quality and much cheaper than many heating cables out there. No problem at all. I didn’t use the installation strips but bought uncoupling membrane. It makes it much easier to install since you can remove the cable and move them closer. Keep in mind you cannot cut your cable. There is some trial and error until the coverage is perfect with your cable length. Thermostat works well too and is programmable with many options.
