Heated Basement Floors in Toronto

Underfloor heaters bring the comfort of warm floors to a cold basement. The systems are energy-efficient thanks to the fact that they use a lower temperature than the traditional heating systems. In addition to transforming the basement into a cozy room, floor heaters reduce energy usage and the overall cost of heating your home.

Why Should You Install Floor Heating in the Basement?

When it comes to home renovations, the basements are often the last rooms to be renovated. They are often left abandoned or used simply as unheated spaces for storing the things you rarely use. What most people forget is that a basement renovation can add significant value to your home.

Installing underfloor heating can maximize the potential of overlooked basement space and turn it into a large, cozy family room or even a workspace. Needless to say, a heated basement can provide you with an additional living space that you can transform into a game room, extra bedroom or even rent it out as an apartment. Underfloor heating makes it possible for you to transform your basement into a fantastic living space.

Benefits of a Heated Basement Floor

Floor heaters are energy-efficient heating solutions that bring the comfort of warm floors to a cold basement. Unlike traditional heating systems, underfloor heating systems use a lower temperature but still manage to provide optimal heat output. They are designed to reduce energy usage and, in turn, lower your overall heating costs.

Another undeniable benefit of installing heated basement floors is that they offer remarkable design freedom. You will be able to create any basement layout you want without ever being restricted by obstructive piping and radiators. When used as the primary source of heat, underfloor heating does not get in the way because it is buried in the floors. The heating element is also thin which means it has minimal effect on the overall floor level.

Due to the fact that basements have few windows for ventilation and are often unfinished, basements often feel dusty and damp. Floor heaters offer the best solution for these spaces because they do not rely on air circulation to work. The heat from the floor heaters is dispersed by radiation. Consequently, the air quality in the basement is improved since there is reduced dust circulation.

Heavenly Heat’s thermostat ensures that floor heating is efficient by offering automatic heat and gently heating up the room to the desired temperature. Contact us today to find out more about our smart thermostats and how they can save you money.

Best Electric Radiant Floor Heating System to Install

We have a wide selection of underfloor heating systems to give you more flexibility in basement renovation. Whether your goal is to install a floor heater in a new building or to retrofit a system in an existing basement we are here to help. We offer underfloor heaters that are easy to install and use.

Which Heating System Per Floor Covering Types

The most popular flooring finishes for the basement in North America are carpet or vinyl. If you are using laminate, carpet, or floating wood floors, we offer dry installation heating systems which include a heating cable that is embedded and pre-spaced under the floor finish.

Our most recommended system is EasyMat. This is made of flexible strips that are created using high-quality heating cables. The system is available in three heat requirement strengths: 12, 15, and 20 Watts per square foot. The 20 Watts per square foot is ideal when you want to use underfloor heating as the primary source of heat in your basement.

The second option is EasyWire. This is available in a variety of heat requirement strengths from 10 to 20 Watts per square foot. Just like with the EasyMat, the 20 Watts per square foot is perfect when you want to use floor heating as the primary source of heat.

Our third option is Self-Regulating Cable. This is an innovative system designed for both residential and industrial applications. The unique feature is that the cable increases or reduces its heat output depending on the ambient temperature. This means it cannot overheat or burnout even when the cables are overlapped.

All three options share their own unique traits. The best feature is the fact that the heating cable is 1/8 inches thick. This means when it is installed it does not raise the floor level. Secondly, they operate using the ordinary current already in your home which means you don’t need to upgrade the existing electrical system. They are also quite flexible which makes them easy to install around fixtures and in restricted floor layouts.

Our underfloor heating systems work great with various floor types. If you are not sure which option to use, we encourage you to get in touch with us. Our team of experts will walk you through your options, give professional recommendations, and give you time to decide on the system that is perfect for you.

Best Flooring Finishes

When it is unfinished, a basement will mostly have concrete floors. During renovations, you have to choose the floor covering that works best for you. The most common options are laminate, tiles, and carpeting. Our underfloor heating solutions are suited for many types of floor finishes.

Why You Need Insulation Boards

In our experience, we have come to learn that using insulation boards together with heated basement floors reduces the heat-up time significantly and reduces the overall running costs. That is why in every project we work on we always recommend the installation of insulation boards before laying the heating cables down. Insulation boards keep heat from escaping downwards.

Our insulation boards don’t just direct heat to where it needs to go but also doubles up as a strong tile backer board that increases heater stability. Contact us to find out more about our insulation.

Cost of Floor Heating in the Basement

Our heating systems are competitively priced and are engineered for maximum energy efficiency. You can count on lower running costs once they are installed in your basement. Contact us today for a running cost calculation.

What Our Clients Say

As a DIY, I really appreciated the snow melting cable from Heavenly Heat because it is so heavily jacketed I had no trouble with damage, testing the cable before and after proved that it withstood whatever it had to during installation. I love that it has a built-in return connection; meaning the cable doesn’t have to make the “run” back to the relay panel – this made the install so much easier.

Amazing product! We installed easy mat in a family room. The family room was part of an addition that was on a slab so the room was extremely cold especially in the winter. We used the mat under pad and carpet and it heats up in minutes. We are thrilled with how this product performs.

Ordered floor heating cable. Works well. A great solution for an odd shaped space and the price is great. We installed it in a bathroom floor that is above and unheated garage. Just the right solution.

It was a pleasure dealing with Heavenly Heat during home renovation project. Customer support was excellent, advising on how-to (I hired electrician at the end to install the system at the end, but still they were very helpful). Over all very positive experience.

Awesome floor heat system. I have installed Heavenly Heat as well as a couple other brands and this one for the price cannot be beat. It also comes with extras that the more expensive systems do not come with such as the alarm to let you know if you have damaged the cable during installation. The thermostat takes a bit of time to learn and is not as easy, but once you figure out how to program it, its no problem. Will definitely buy again. The floor is already nice and warm.

Good quality and much cheaper than many heating cables out there. No problem at all. I didn’t use the installation strips but bought uncoupling membrane. It makes it much easier to install since you can remove the cable and move them closer. Keep in mind you cannot cut your cable. There is some trial and error until the coverage is perfect with your cable length. Thermostat works well too and is programmable with many options.

An awesome heating system, we used it in our bathroom renovation project; and honestly, after hours of research I couldnt find anything else even near the same quality for the same price. Would absolutely reccomend.
